Maynard D. Brown
RICHMOND -- Maynard Daniel Brown Sr., 81, of Richmond, died on May 29, 2009, surrounded by his family.
Son of Maynard Harlow Brown and Doris McClellan Brown, Bud was born in Waterville on Sept. 11, 1927, and was a graduate of Gardiner High School. Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1948, he began his career as a dairy farmer in 1950. Of his many accomplishments, he received the outstanding young farmer of the year award in 1958 and was recognized for conservational service where he served the state agricultural department for 30 years, and served on the board of directors for the Litchfield Fair for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Geraldine Emory Brown; three sons, Maynard Daniel Brown Jr., Richard Harlow Brown and Dale Emory Brown, and their wives; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday morning, June 5, at Litchfield Plains Cemetery on Plains Road.
