Louis P. Finamore

Louis Peter Finamore of Cumberland Ctr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2008 after a brief illness.

Lou was Born November 22, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to Peter and Virginia Finamore.

Lou, an Army Air Force veteran, served his time in the Pacific during WWII in the Fujian and Hawaiian Islands. Later in life, Lou was an active member of the Veterans for Peace organization. After the war, Lou worked for a time at Western Union in NY, were he met Shirley Hope Yahne of Mitchell, South Dakota and the pair married shortly thereafter. Lou’s working career was with the United States Railroad Retirement Board, working in NYC, Massachusetts, and then Portland Maine until retirement in 1980.

Lou is survived by his wife, Shirley, his three children, Leslie Webber of Orange, Ca, Randall of Richmond, ME, Bradley of Ogden, Ut., and siblings Anna Finamore of Long Island, NY, Arnold of Long Island, NY and Richard of Armonk, NY. Lou and Shirley have three grand children, Alex Finamore of Gardiner, Abby Pearson of Cumberland and Natalie Finamore of Ogden Ut.

Lou was a natural purveyor of semi-funny jokes and forever lightened the room with limerick, rhyme and piano. A life long artist, Lou’s paintings of animals and landscapes will forever grace our walls and hearts for generations to come.

A celebration of Lou’s life will take place at the Community House at 179 East Maine Street in Yarmouth, Maine on Friday, June 20, from 4PM to 7PM.
