Springvale, Maine-Charlotte E. Howard passed away at the Goodall Hospital, Sanford, Maine on October 2, 2007, at the age of 96. She was born in Rumford, Maine on November 24, 1910 to Eugene B. and Lottie A. (Swain) Davis. She attended the Rumford schools graduating from Stevens High School in 1929. After graduation she assisted her mother and father in the family business, the Davis Florist. On November 24, 1932, she married Alfred F. Howard of Rumford, son of Frank F. and Mary P. (Elliot) Howard and they started their long and happy life together.

She was an active member of the Manchester Community Church in Manchester, Maine.

Her hobby was cooking and she was known far and wide for her chocolate chip cookies.

She loved being a wife and mother which was her career. She was a very sweet and charming lady, always having a smile for everyone. She will be missed by so many.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth P. (Howard) Arnold of Springvale, Maine, a brother, Ted Davis, of Rumford, Maine, a sister-in-law, Mary Davis, also of Rumford, Maine, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Lawrence D. Howard in 1970 and her husband of 69 years in 2001.

There will no public visiting hours or service. There will be a private family gathering at the gravesite.
