Martha Brooker Johanson
Dresden-Passed on one day shy of her 86th birthday, April 20, 1940.
Martha was born & raised in the Hudson River Valley in NY State. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Johanson in 1991 after 43 years of marriage. Martha is survived by daughter Tritia Hamilton and son Rob Johanson and his wife Jan Goranson and grandsons Carl and Goran. Martha is also survived by two of her four siblings, Elinor Johanson and John Richard Brooker of NY state.
Martha, a devoted Navy wife of 22 years, left Northern Virginia and followed Bob to Whitefield, Maine in 1968. Her 32 years in Whitefield were filled with community service. As an Officer of the North Whitefield Historical Society she was instrumental in the moving and refurbishing of the Whitefield Town House. Martha spent over 20 years as dispatcher for the North Whitefield Volunteer Fire Department and was a State delegate from the Lincoln County Republican Party.
Martha was an accomplished musician, soloist and choir director spending 15 years with the Augusta Symphony as singer and Librarian. Martha’s independent spirit was there until the very end. Her love for music, reading, nature, and creative craft and building design are some of the passions she leaves to her family and friends
