Betty-Jo Gilmore

pic GilmoreRichmond- Betty-Jo Gilmore (née Gregg) was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister and friend whose passing will be felt by the many people whose lives she enriched. Betty-Jo passed away at home on Tuesday, March 15th 2022 at the age of 66. She cared immensely about people - individuals - and she strove always to meet the unique needs of those around her. She was a vibrant woman with many dreams, and the world is diminished by her passing.

A graduate of the University of New Hampshire’s Class of 1977, Betty-Jo devoted 35 years of her life to the Intensive Outpatient Program at Maine General, a career which culminated in her role as supervisor.

She enjoyed reading, summer campfires, and walking on the beach. She loved family holidays, Trivial Pursuit, and Rice Krispie treats. She cherished Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi with a passion heretofore unseen. She cared about family above all else, and loved spending time with her grandson Robert and visiting her mother Betty in Florida. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her next grandson in August.

She was neither showy nor ostentatious, but preferred to show her inestimable worth through carefully-considered action. At the forefront of her mind was one question: “How will the people I care about be affected?” Moreover, Betty-Jo was tremendously wise, and she offered that wisdom to her loved ones with unmatched altruism.  She taught them to reach out. To surround themselves with people who value them. To find ways to make meaning. To think always - always - about people

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert; her son, Jason; her daughter, Nicole; her grandson, Robert Schoen; her mother, Betty; and her sisters, Jean and Sally. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph; and her brother, Mark.

A service to honor Betty-Jo will be held at Kincer Funeral Home in Richmond at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 23rd. A gathering of celebration will be held immediately afterwards.

Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond, ME  04357
