William B. Holmes, 66, of Richmond, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2022.

Bill was born August 2, 1955 in Plymouth, MA to parents Diane Gould and William B. Holmes. Bill attended Plymouth schools where he graduated in 1974.

In 1976 Bill joined the US Navy. He retired after 20 years ranking EOC in the Seabees. Bill went on to work as a heavy equipment operator for 10 years until his retirement.

Bill loved to hunt with his brothers, Paul and Jeff, and his cousin, Brian. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially loved Football Sundays with friends. Bill had a great sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to share a joke or tease his friends.

He is predeceased by both parents, as well as his brothers, Russell Holmes and Ralph Holmes, and his son-in-law, Will Keating.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Ellen Holmes of Richmond; daughter, Melissa Keating of Richmond; grandson, Dempsey Keating of Richmond; sister-in-law, Theresa and husband Ed Sleight of Greenville, IN; sister-in-law, Kathleen Sousa of Florida; brother, Paul Holmes and partner Donna of Plymouth, MA, and brother, Jeffery Holmes of Plymouth, MA.

The family would like to recognize the VA and Chans Hospice for providing Bill with wonderful care. Also, a special thanks to friends Tommy and Donna Sullivan, Norman and Kathy Knight, Dave and Pat Thompson and Josh Watson.

A service will be held August 2, 2022 at 10 am at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine. A Celebration of Life will follow at 45 Dingley Road, Richmond.
