Bowdoinham-Susann E. Uhle, 70, of the White Rd., died on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at a local hospital.

She was born on December 12, 1945 in Lewiston the daughter of Malcolm and Valda Gray.

Suzy was a longtime dispatcher and Ladies auxiliary member for the Bowdoinham Fire Department.

She enjoyed snowmobiling, watching stock car racing and cooking for family and friends.

Suzy worked at the Dolphin Marine in Harpswell for many years and Crickets Restaurant in Freeport.

She was predeceased by her parents.  Suzy is survived by her husband of 49 years Sonny Uhle of Bowdoinham, daughters Robin Uhle/Rapp of Idaho, Kim Uhle/Mitchell of Daytona Beach Florida, 2 grandchildren Damien, Josh, 5 great grandchildren Christina, Jasmine, Daisha, Xzavior and Maximus.

a celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 5th at from 1 to 4pm at the Bowdoinham Fire Department 57 Post Rd in Bowdoinham.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bowdoinham Fire department Association 57 Post Rd. Bowdoinham, Me 04008.

Edward S. Crosby

Richmond-Edward S. Crosby, 89, of Center St., died on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his home with his family and friends by his side.He was born on October 1, 1927 in Albion the son of Rethel and Orpha Barton Crosby.Ed loved the outdoors, he was an Avid hunter and fisherman and a teacher of both, to his son, daughter, grandsons and great grandsons.Ed was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Richmond Sportsman's, a member of the Bowdoinham Masonic Lodge and a Shriner, receiving outstanding Shriners award in 2013.  He was a honored Richmond Citizen of the year 2004.  Of all the organizations and things he did, he mostly enjoyed being a husband, dad, Grampy and great Grampy.He is survived by his wife of 65 years Phyllis, son Ed Jr., daughter Diane, grandson's Ed III, Ryan and wife Marsha, two great grandson's Shane and Lucas and sister Betty Collar.The family would like to express a special thanks to Odis and Barbara Cottrell (our Angels), Dr. Linda Hermans, the staff at Togus Springs and Patti Mason of Gardiner Health Reach Hospice.Memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, November 3rd at 10am with a funeral service to start at 11am at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the the: Shriners Burn Center 51 Blossom St. Boston, Ma 02114 or Togus Spring Hospice building 207 810 Eastern Ave  Augusta, Me 04330.Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home 130 Pleasant St. Richmond, Me 04357

Rachel G. Mateyko

MateykoBowdoinham-Rachel G. Mateyko, 86, of the River Rd., died on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at her home with her family by her side.She was born on the Santa Rosa Ranch, Texas, which was owned by her grandfather.  Rachel was born on May 24, 1930 the daughter of Santiago and Hortencia Gonzales.Rachel's passion was education and most recently enjoyed substitute teaching for SAD 75.She was an ardent Cowboys fan, dedicated military spouse, volunteering at Post 132 American Legion for 16 years.  Rachel received the Armed Forces Mother of the year award in 1973.  She was a very supportive mother, always involved in her children's activities.Rachel was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles (Teyko) Mateyko, and 5 siblings.  She is survived by daughters Rachelle Tome and husband Dennis of Bowdoinham, Dolores Jane Mateyko of Oklahoma, Julianna Dullum and husband Michael of Florida, sons George Mateyko and wife Donna of Georgia, Carlos James Henry Mateyko of Bowdoinham, Joseph Michael Mateyko of Indiana, sister Ofira Grace (FIFi) Gonzales Merkle of N.C., 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many, nieces, nephews and cousins.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, November 10th at 11am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Richmond.  Per her request a private burial will follow at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd. Eugene R. Ridley Jr.

Eugene Ridley picOXFORD – Eugene R. Ridley Jr., 95, died on October 13, 2016 at Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Norway. 

He was born June 24, 1921 in Poland, the son of Eugene R. Ridley and Ruby Everett Davis.  He attended schools in Mechanic Falls and Oxford. 

On Aug. 28, 1942, he married Elizabeth Madiline Twitchell.  He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Afterward, he worked as a carpenter and for Robinson Mfg. woolen mill in Oxford. 

He was a member of the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars and the Oxford Advent Christian Church.  His hobbies included wood carving, gardening and playing guitar. 

He is survived by his brother, Malcolm Ridley of Nobleboro, and 33 nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife; one brother, Chester Ridley; and three sisters, Beulah Kimball, Hertha Kimball, and Glenice Tarbox. 

At his request, there will be no funeral service.  Burial will be at the family lot at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner St. Auburn.

CAROLEE MAINES STIMPSON VAN VALKENBURGH

Carolee Van Valkenburgh, 73, of Richmond and Tenants Harbor, Maine, died peacefully at home on October 15, 2016 with her husband and children by her side.

Despite her fight with cancer, which she battled for almost 3 years, her irresistible smile and loving personality never stopped. Those who knew her drew their own strength from her as she tried to make life more bearable for everyone else.

1938-2016

Richmond-Richard “Dick” L. Ashcroft, 78, passed away peacefully October 9, 2016 with his family by his side.

He was born in Boothbay Harbor August 16, 1938.  Dick moved to Readfield when he was two and
graduated from Winthrop High School in 1956.  After high school he got his FCC radio telephone
license.

Dick worked in Winthrop for Inmont Corporation and in 1977 he went to work for Kinney Office System
in Augusta and Bangor where he retired in 2005.

Dick liked working with wood, he built three houses, love to take pictures, camping and did a lot of
traveling after retiring with his wife Janice. They went to several states and Canada. He especially
liked PEI.

Charles Rittall Sr.

RittallDresden-Charles W. Rittall Sr., 90, of the Middle Rd. Died on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Maine Medical Center, Portland.

He was born in Dresden on March 4, 1926 the son of William and Gladys Rittall.

Charles worked at Eaton Shoe in Richmond for over 20 years.  He later worked at BIW in the tin shop for over 20 years as well.  

He enjoyed working in his workshop, going to Molly's basketball games, reading, watching the show Survivor, growing tomatoes, squash and cukes.  

Charles was very proud of his families boat building heritage and at 69 years old attended the Carpenters Boat Shop in Bristol.

Charles was predeceased by his parents, sister Barbara Millett, son in law Dwight Cook and Grandson Michael Joseph.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years Mildred Rittall of Dresden, daughters Estelle Cook of Dresden, Stephanie Haskell of Dresden, Cheryl Martin-Begin and husband Doug of Richmond, son Charles Rittall Jr., of Farmingdale, sister Madeline Tozier of Monmouth, grandchildren Frank Anderson and his wife Brandie of Ellsworth, Shanna McNeil and husband Eric of Dresden, Duane Martin of Utah, Molly Haskell of Arizona, great grandchildren Abigail, Spencer, Avery, Braxton, John and Marcus.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday September 29th from 1 to 2pm at the funeral home with a funeral service to follow at 2pm.  Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Dresden.

Pearle A. Temple

TempleBowdoinham-After suffering a stroke last year, Pearle Temple never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook, even after several falls and other illnesses, hospitalizations and pain. She passed on September 14th 2016.
