Winifred Reed1Gardiner – Winifred E. Reed 77, formerly of Bath, ME died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Bath, ME on October 30, 1936 daughter of Frank J. Robshaw and Grace E. Brown (Simmons). She graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1955. She worked as a nanny, housekeeper, factory worker and a housewife. She lived at the Washington House for 24 years. In addition to organizing many tenant potlucks, coffee & doughnut breakfasts, picnics and holiday events, she helped form and create the buildings first Residential Advisory Committee and served as the committee's first chairperson.

On November 13, 1976 she married Earl D. Reed and they resided in Wiscasset until moving to Bath in 1990.

Survivors include two sons, David K. West of Richmond, Daniel C. Fowle and companion Sheena Wright of Gardiner, two daughters, Shelley E. Merrill of Richmond, Gracie E. Wood and husband Bill Wood of Fort Carson, Colorado, step-daughter Pam Teal of Rockand, three brothers, Allen Craney of Rockport, Raymond Simmons and his wife Carol of Damariscotta, Ira Simmons and his wife Kristine of China, two sisters, Margaret Brown and her husband Randall of Waldoboro, Jenie Pease of Appleton, a sister-in-law Dottie Craney of Warren, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Frank J. Robshaw, mother Grace E. Brown (Simmons), son Joseph West, step-son Nick West, husband Earl D. Reed, brother Hugh Craney, brother-in-law Franz Pease.

Winnie's family wishes to thank everyone from Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and Coastal dialysis for their loving and compassionate care during her illness.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. At the Greenlawn Cemetery on the Rumerill Road, Wiscasset, Maine 04578
