Frederic Browne

FREDERIC WILLIAM BROWNE

May 19, 1937 – June 10, 2016

Richmond-Fred was born in Boston, MA and grew up in the Boston area. He worked for many years in Boston as a Vice President at Vose-Swain Printing Co. After retirement Fred moved to Maine and engaged in many entrepreneurial adventures. Several years ago he found his niche as a substitute teacher at the Richmond Junior and Senior High School. Fred listened to and respected each and every one of the students and In return the students held “Mr. Browne” in high esteem.

Fred also had many outside interests including serving on local boards, volunteering on committees and helping out at local events. He played tennis most mornings with a group of friends who were aptly named by his grandson Ryan as the Grumpy Old Men. Quite simply, Fred loved life and lived it to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his parents Esther (Kanold) Browne and Edmond Browne; his Son Frederic Browne, Jr.; his brothers Edmond G. Browne and Robert A. Browne and a sister Lois P. Loomis.

He is survived by his partner Carol Lichtenberg, the woman he lived with and loved; his children, daughter Jennifer Browne Snodgrass and husband Joseph, daughter Alicia Browne, and son Francis (Frank) Browne; Carol’s children, Stephen Ganem and his wife Mindy, Laurie Ganem- MacLean and husband Jim and son David Ganem; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his sisters Kathryn Browne Scanzillo and Erina Browne Marcolini and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.

Fred was known by many names; Fred, Freddie, Fritz, Grandpa, Papa Fred and most recently Gr Gr which is short for great grandpa and, of course, to his students he will always be “Mr. Browne.” He is loved and greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
